Released in May of 2012, Diablo III was met with overall rave reviews. Now, in 2013, the latest installment of the famed series will be getting an expansion—scheduled to launch on March 25th, 2014.
Entitled Reaper Of Souls, the expansion is available for pre-order today. And, by the nature of expansions, several new features are to be added; such as a new class—the Crusader, an Act V of the game’s story, a higher level cap—allowing players to ascend to level 70, and a revenant antagonist—Malthael, who hadn’t been seen since the days of Diablo II.
Word broke when Blizzard wrote a press release on their site on December 19th. Promised by Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime to be a return to the series’ “darker, deadlier roots,” he also hinted that the expansion will allow for more exploratory leeway—made possible by the new “Adventure Mode,”which is a game mode that “gives players the freedom to go anywhere and slay anything.”
Available at $40 for the basic edition and $60 for the collector’s variant of the same release, the 2014 launch date of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls has many gamers gearing up for the upcoming spring season.
