A handful of screenshots for the recently-revealed pirate-themed entry in Ubisoft’s parkour-and-stabbin’-dudes franchise, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, leaked over the weekend.
The screens, originally posted by All Games Beta, show off some of the antics players can expect to get into on the high seas: Some show off naval battles, presumably returning from Assassin’s Creed III, and another depicts new protagonist Edward Kenway looking in on a diving whale, perhaps suggesting animal hunting will return for Black Flag, with seafaring beasts joining the fray this time around. The other screens show off material expected for the series at this point: Kenway taking on enemy soldiers and parkouring through a lush forest.
Gamers got their first tease at the next Assassin’s Creed in early February, when a Reddit user revealed an encounter with a woman working on marketing materials for Black Flag. Later in the month, a tipster revealed a Black Flag poster with art by comics legend Todd McFarlane – presumably a pre-order bonus. The game’s official release date was uncovered Friday, followed by a leak of the first cinematic trailer Saturday morning. It appears the cat’s out of the bag at this point, and gamers can likely expect to get more and more intel on the game at a fast clip from here on out (many gaming news outlets have officially-sanctioned Black Flag previews going live today, for example).
If reports are to be believed, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will hit on Oct. 29 for all home consoles – Xbox 360, Wii U, PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 (as well as other “next-gen consoles” – presumably Microsoft’s next Xbox, assuming that drops this year).
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be the fifth entry in the series in as many years. Are you excited to get your hands on the pirate-themed adventure, or is franchise fatigue starting to set in for you? What feature are you most excited to try out? What problems from previous entries do you hoped to see fixed in this title?
