When Insomiac announced that they were going multiplatform, many were surprised. Months later, they revealed that their first game to do so was called Overstrike. Some details were revealed but the game quickly went back into hiding and was forgotten by some. Today, EA and Insomniac have revealed Fuse, previously known as Overstrike. The 4-person co-op action shooter thrusts players into the roles of four elite, covert agents with their own unique skills and experimental weapons. Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble or Naya Deveraux, members of Overstrike 9, fight to protect mankind from this mysterious alien energy source known as Fuse.
“Fuse demonstrates what Insomniac does best: outlandish and gruesome weapons design, over-the-top action and a touch of humor,” said Insomniac Games’ Founder and CEO, Ted Price. “We’re especially excited to see how players utilize lethal teamwork by combining their Fuse weapons to stop a deadly arms race.”
Players will be able experience the unique attributes of each agent by using the game’s LEAP feature to switch between the four characters at will during combat. Gamers can also play online or offline and level up along unique character paths, allowing players to unlock more powerful Fuse-driven abilities as the game progresses.
A batch of screenshots was also released to accompany this announcement.
Known for their previous work which includes Ratchet & Clank and Resistance (both PS3 exclusives), Insomniac’s first foray into the multiplatform world will launch in March 2013.
