One really unique feature of college football is the prestige that certain schools have. Historically dominant teams like Alabama, Notre Dame, and USC have a lasting appeal that gives them huge advantages in things like recruiting, coaching searches, and much more.
In NCAA Football 14, EA Sports grouped programs into prestige tiers. The highest prestige college football programs have a prestige rating of 6 stars while the lowest prestige schools have a rating of only 1 star. Most colleges fall somewhere in the middle.
As you win more games and establish a tradition of winning you can see your prestige rating start to go up and you’ll notice that you get more and more top recruits interested in your school. Everything becomes much easier once you get to be a 5 star or 6 star school.
If you start to have losing seasons or don’t live up to the hype, you’ll quickly see your school’s prestige rating fall.
Out of all of the Division 1 college football teams, there are 11 teams with 6 star prestige, 12 teams with 5 star prestige, and 12 teams with 4 star prestige.
Hopefully this feature is maintained as we head into the next college football video game that EA Sports recently announced.
