Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes isn’t out until March, but near-final builds are already making the rounds at larger publications. Not much is being revealed quality-wise, but comments are circulating about its supposedly brief campaign.
According to the latest Game Informer cover story, the main story missions alone were completed “in just less than two hours.” Considering Ground Zeroes’ $39.99 price tag and its relation to The Phantom Pain, this information caused a bit of a kerfuffle, with many claiming the game to be a glorified demo.
In response to many fan’s reactions, Kojima Productions designer Jordan Amaro had this to say,
Are Journey and Dear Esther long? Candide is like a hundred pages at most. Yet they are masterpieces of video game and literature. This smearing will not stain and affect what we’re aiming to achieve with MGS, the game industry in Japan, or video games as a whole.
It’s also important to remember that Kojima Productions plans on making Ground Zeroes more open than its predecessors, allowing for additional content outside the main campaign. Ground Zeroes will launch on March 18th for Microsoft and Sony platforms.
