Connected and shared universes linked around a set of games in a franchise will probably be this upcoming generation’s bread and butter. Leading the charge is Eidos Montreal with their commitment to Deus Ex: Universe. Universe aims to “create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games.”
Eidos went on to explain in their blog that Universe isn’t limited to the core Deus Ex games, either. Mobile, tablets, graphic novels, books, you name it. If it has the Deus Ex name on it, it’ll be part of Universe. The first product to come from all of this? A game, naturally.
This new Deus Ex game will take place in a dark vision of the future (naturally). A piece of concept art was released that shows what Eidos is calling a ghetto-city which showcases trans-humanism segregation. Check out the big version of that image here. While no name was given for the game, it’s been confirmed that it’ll ship for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
All of this reminds me that I still need to finish up Human Revolution, since it’s the best Robocop game ever made.
