EA, like many larger studios, is often criticized for always playing it safe. In a recent interview with MCV, EA Games chief Patrick Soderlund tried to dispel these rumors, discussing a few upcoming projects.

He then continued, giving a very basic outline of what EA has in store for us.
We have six to eight completely new IPs in the works. The day we stop making new IP is when we go onto life support. We need to incubate new ideas and push creative boundaries.
While no specifics for these new IPs were given, it’s always good to hear that new attempts are still being made.
