Microsoft has remained mum on how they’ll be reorganized after Don Mattrick’s departure from Microsoft to Zynga. Today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer emailed his staff detailing the reorganization.
The company will have several divisions but Engineering is the division that tackles Xbox One. That division specifically will be split into four units: Operating Systems, Applications and Services, Cloud and Enterprise, and Devices and Studios.
Former head of Windows Phone Terry Myerson will be heading up Operating Systems, including core functions of the Xbox One. Julie-Larson Green, rumored to gain Mattrick’s position, will be in charge of hardware or Devices and Studios as Mattrick once was, confirming those rumors. Skype Head Tony Bates will be heading up developer relations.
Here’s a quote from Ballmer on how they plan on getting the message across with Xbox One:
“We will reshape how we interact with our customers, developers and key innovation partners, delivering a more coherent message and family of product offerings.”
Seems like a lot of things to handle but the Xbox One might be in capable hands. Leave a comment below on how you feel about the restructuring and bring the discussion to our Facebook and Twitter.
