CD Projekt Red has made a name for itself with the Witcher series, and Wild Hunt is looking to continue that tradition. Details concerning the upcoming entry have been released, giving a broad idea of what the game will attempt. Studio head Adam Badowski had the following to say,
The Witcher 3 is full of impactful decisions, and gamers will choose between storylines that exclude one another in a single playthrough, ensuring extensive replay value. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt crowns the trilogy with the main narrative, revolving around Geralt’s search for his loved ones and his conflict with the Wild Hunt. As players travel through the game, they visit lands with their own unique atmosphere, communities and memorable characters. CD Projekt RED didn’t create an open world with a singular theme, but concentrated on delivering diversified and engaging environments, 30 times larger than those in The Witcher 2.
Numbers have also been thrown out, with the main campaign supposedly spanning 50 hours, accompanied by an additional 50 of side content. The game described sounds like it will continue the use of branching storylines, hopefully forcing players into even more uncomfortable gray areas.
A number of hi-res screenshots have also been released, showing off the island of Skellige. Check out the gallery below, but keep in mind this is a work in progress. That being said, they’re still pretty sick. The Witcher 3 is scheduled to release in 2014 for “all high end platforms, including PlayStation 4.”
