The PC gaming giant Blizzard Entertainment has been hinting at a possible console version of Diablo 3 since its release. Chief creative officer Rob Pardo recently discussed this possibility with Polygon, detailing the projects current status.
According to Pardo, they already have a build running on an unspecified console. “We’ve got builds up and running on it. We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool,” Pardo told Polygon.
Lead designer Jay Wilson followed with similar comments, stating that Blizzard is still just “exploring console options,” but announcements regarding Diablo 3 should be coming some time next year. Although, with previous talk of expansions, what these announcements will include is still unknown.
This wouldn’t be Diablo’s first foray into the world of consoles, as the first installment found its way onto the PS1. Since then Blizzard has been absent from the console market, focusing on their PC IP’s. You can currently pick up Diablo 3 for Windows and Mac.
