With the launch of Mass Effect 3 this year came great controversy. A group of gamers did not agree with the ending of Mass Effect 3 and felt that BioWare should change how the game ends. Controversy sparked, and BioWare eventually stated that they’ll release downloadable content that provides more light on the ending.
Whether or not you agree with that group of gamers, the general ending of Mass Effect 3 was controversial. How controversial? Even Mark Lamia of Treyarch recently commented on the ending of the game in an interview from OXM.
We’re not afraid to end the game on a note that people aren’t used to, [but ME3] had no bearing on what we’re doing. What ships in our box – that’s going to be what we wanted to create. Those are going to be the endings we wanted to deliver to the player.
With Black Ops 2 having multiple endings in the campaign, it’ll be interesting to see how gamers respond. It’s the first time that a Call of Duty title will have multiple endings, so we’re expecting Treyarch to ensure that each ending provides a resolution gamers can resignate with.
