Another day and another rumor surfaces for the next console from Microsoft. A rumor has emerged today stating that the console will include a blu-ray drive and require an “always-on internet connection”.
The purpose of the always-on connection is to deter piracy. While it makes sense in some situations, it completely alienates the portion of the market without a high-speed connection or those traveling. The report comes in from VG247, who learned of the details earlier this morning.
A new version of Kinect is said to be integrated in the new Xbox as well. With the system having roughly six cores, one core will be devoted to the new Kinect technology and another to the operating system.
Numerous developers have referenced hiring for “future-generation” systems, but Microsoft has stated they won’t be revealing a new console at E3 2012. While they’ve went and stated that they won’t, we wouldn’t count them out on unveiling a new console just yet.
