Oh boy, this isn’t going to be good. Mass Effect 3 is set to launch next week and fans have been scrambling to secure their last minute pre-orders. If you own an Xbox 360, it’s nearly impossible to get a Mass Effect 3 Collector’s Edition unless you’re able to find a local retailer in your area that still has stock.
Word has come today that popular UK retailer GAME has cancelled every single Mass Effect 3 pre-order that they have. Yes, that even includes the incredibly hard to find collector’s edition of the game. The retailer has been struggling as of late, even cutting over 40 jobs from its headquarters to try and save money within the company.
An internal memo that was obtained by Eurogamer has revealed that GAME will be cancelling all Mass Effect 3 pre-orders and future EA titles as well. GAME stated that the reason they won’t be stocking any EA titles as the company is, “committed to only stocking products on which we could get the right credit terms”.
It’s an unfortunate situation, but those customers who pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 will receive £5 worth of Reward Points and a full refund. With GAME struggling so significantly, it’s going to be incredibly difficult for them to emerge from their large hole when they’re not able to sell an extremely popular game such as Mass Effect 3.
What do you think about GAME cancelling all of their Mass Effect 3 pre-orders? Does this change your mind on wanting to support the company? Be sure to let us know what you think by leaving us a comment below, or discuss the situation in our forums!
