When looking at the survival horror genre, the Dead Space series stands out as one of the best this generation. It’s hard to find a game that delivers so well on the lighting, sound, and atmosphere as well as the folks behind the Dead Space series.
While we’ve seen a few rumors circulate about Dead Space 3 the past few months, a brand new rumor has surfaced thanks to NowGamer. The rumor states that Dead Space 3 will be powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine, the same engine behind Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run.
The rumor receives strength based off of a job listing posted for Visceral Games Montreal and a tweet from a DICE rendering architect. It’s a tough one to call at this point, but it seems likely that each would be pointing to the upcoming announcement of Dead Space 3.
From the rumors that have circulated, Dead Space 3 will take place on any ice planet. It’ll be interesting to see what the Frostbite 2.0 engine can do for the series, as the lighting was already extremely impressive. A new Dead Space title will definitely be a welcomed addition, but we’re just hoping that the team behind it focuses more on the singleplayer and less on the multiplayer.
