The new EA Sports College Football 24 video game, scheduled to be released in July 2024, will only be available exclusively on the next generation consoles; XBOX Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
By the time the new College Football game is released, the “next-gen” consoles will have been out for over three and a half years. Any shortage causing gamers not to be able to buy a next-gen console should be resolved well before the official release.
This news does unfortunately also confirm that there will be no NCAA/College Football video game designed for the PlayStation 4/XBOX One consoles.
The most recent college football video game was NCAA Football 14 with Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson on the cover. That game was released in July 2013. The XBOX One and PlayStation 4 consoles were not released until 4 months later in November 2013.
The new EA Sports College Football 24 game will be built off the same engine that Madden is on.
Before the 11 year hiatus, NCAA Football games used a more polished version of the gameplay from the previous years’ Madden game. We expect that process to remain the same in the new game.
The gameplay in Madden 23 at this point of the season is mostly well-received. As with any game, there are some issues that need to be resolved including:
- Offensive line targeting needs to be improved
- Pre-snap adjustments are way too slow
- Man to man defense is overpowered
It is still early in the season and plenty of title updates remain. The finished gameplay experience could be one of the best in a long time.
There is still a lot of information yet to be announced regarding the new college football video game. As we find out more, we’ll pass it along to you.
By the time the new game is released in July 2024, EA Sports will have been working on College Football 24 for over 4 years. Fans have very high expectations. It remains to be seen whether they will be met.
