The next, gut-wrenching season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead may be unleashed upon the world on Dec. 17, if a Steam listing is to be believed.
Fans have known for some time that the first episode of the second season, “All That Remains,” would release this month, but this is the first time there’s been any indication of a solid release date. It’s a pretty safe bet that this is a reliable date, but whether that date also applies to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and other platforms remains to be seen. Just as with the first season, players can pre-order the Season Pass on Steam for $22.49, a 10 percent discount.
“All That Remains,” of course, follows on the heels of The Walking Dead’s first blockbuster season, which became one of the most critically-acclaimed games of 2012, even earning its fair share of Game of the Year awards. The game’s impossible moral choices and well-rounded characters – especially season two protagonist Clementine – were a breath of fresh air in gaming landscape filled with black-and-white morality and bland archetypes.
The Walking Dead is set in the same universe as that of Robert Kirkman’s ever-popular Image Comics series of the same name. Just as in the comic, the game is set in Georgia after a zombie apocalypse, where survivors must make impossible choices just to eke out a short, miserable, violent life.
