Never let it be said that Ubisoft will pass up the chance to capitalize on an opportunity for cross-platform marketing. Thus, Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, a mobile game focusing on ship-building and naval combat, which aims to capitalize on the success of the recently released Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game is set to hit iOS and Android devices on Dec. 5 for $4.99.
Pirates focuses on captain Alonzo Batilla as he hunts for hidden treasure and tasks players with managing a crew, upgrading their ship and taking to the high seas to engage in the kind of nefarious piracy that’s made Black Flag such a huge success. Ubisoft has unveiled a trailer for the game, giving players a glimpse of the kinds of shenanigans they’ll be able to get up to.

The game, announced in September, will purportedly feature cameos by famous pirates like Blackbeard, Ben Hornigold, and other major players who popped up in Black Flag. The game was developed by Ubisoft Paris, who built a new engine specifically for the game.
