4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine – The Game (2009, Raven Software and Activision; Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS)
Let’s get real, guys – X-Men Origins Wolverine was a pretty awful movie, all things considered. The only redeeming thing about the fact that such a steaming pile exists is X-Men Origins: Wolverine – The Game, which puts players in the shoes of the deadliest assassin of the Marvel Universe, giving them full access to Logan’s berzerker rage. The game wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it was full of the frenetic, over-the-top, violent action one would expect from a game starring the best there is at what he does. The game was also chock-full of Easter Eggs for X-Men fans, and while the game’s unique visualization of Wolverine’s healing factor didn’t add anything to the Origins’ mechanics, it was an example of the kind of care that went into translating the character to consoles.
