A continuous flow of content is how an MMO survives. No matter how lengthy or difficult, the most hardcore players will devour major quests in a matter of days. Fortunately for The Elder Scrolls Online, Zenimax Online understands this.
When discussing the future of the game with Shacknews, creative director Paul Sage explained their basic plan as follows,
A big part of our plans is the future of the game. We always want to make sure there is something new right around the corner. Our plan is to have new content coming out on a really frequent basis. We want to make sure that people are really into the game and get to experience a lot of new things. We will have a lot of content at release, but I know that players are amazing in their ability to chew through content quickly, so we want to make sure there is a constant stream of goodies coming to them.”
Sage describes the main plot of The Elder Scrolls Online as one with a specific ending that “leads into an even bigger story.” More people should be receiving access to this story, as the beta is already underway. Anyone interested in early access can sign up here. The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to hit the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in early 2014.
