10. The Return of Microsoft Points
By this point in the generation, Microsoft is the only console manufacturer still trying to trick us into spending money. Instead of simply labeling purchases in real world denominations, or at the very least using a system with a direct one-to-one conversion, they opted for Microsoft Points, a convoluted system whose sole purpose is to get users to spend more money than they initially intended. Spare points would stare you in the face as a constant reminder that you’ve already put money into the micro-economy, and the only way for that money not to be useless is to spend more. Just let us buy games and be done with it; you don’t need to trick us with space bucks.
