Criterion will be moving away from sequels and racers

Criterion will be moving away from sequels and racers

We were lead to believe that Criterion, creators of Burnout and most recently Need for Speed: Most Wanted, would be working on a new racing game for this year. It’s looking like that won’t be true at all.

Creative Director Alex Ward went to Twitter to discuss Criterion’s next project. Unfortunately there wasn’t much to discuss but he did say it won’t be another Need for Speed or Burnout. If you think it could be other racing related games, think again.

“After over a decade of making racing games it’s time to make something new. It is early days thus I have nothing to ‘announce’ or talk about,”

So we have no idea what it’ll be but it won’t be a racing game. If you’re thinking of a sequel to their shooter Black, that won’t be happening either. Apparently, it was met with problems and Alex has ‘Volumes to tell on that topic, but will save that for when I get a book deal…’

What kind of title would you like Criterion to make that’s not racing? Hard question but let us know in the comments below or post in our forums
