Namco Bandai’s action-focused Tank! Tank! Tank! can now be accessed and enjoyed without charge in Europe, as the game is officially a free-to-play title.
While it’d be easy to say that this was part of Nintendo’s plan all along, poor critical and commercial reception both play a key role in this Wii U title’s move to a new pay structure. Tank! Tank! Tank! is currently sitting below a 45 on Metacritic, so it seems the team behind the game is trying its best to grab some new interest.
Giving the game away is a good first step, as players can now download a free ‘basic’ pack that includes three games modes: Monster Battle, Free-For-All and Team Versus. Three sessions of each game type can be played per day.
Forking over some additional cash toward the ten pieces of DLC will remove the play-time restrictions, as well as add a swath of new content. For a limited time, players can pick a pack up for £1.59, but the price will eventually be bumped back up to £7.99.
