Last week, Nintendo announced that the Virtual Console would be coming to the Nintendo e-Shop on the Wii U. This is great for a lot of the new players but what about us longtime Virtual Console users on the Wii? Nintendo first said that we’d have to re-buy Virtual Console games at a lowered price between $1 and $1.50. Although, we can’t access our save files on Virtual Console from the Wii data we transferred onto the new console.
It’s because you’re buying access to a whole new version of your Virtual Console favourite. The updated Wii U ones will have Miiverse integration, customizable controls and most importantly, GamePad-only support. You can still play Virtual Console games through the Wii Menu on the Wii U after transferring your data, but only on the television currently. Virtual Console will be coming in a system update later this spring.
Some better news, Nintendo also announced the list of the Virtual Console games you’ll be able to buy for $0.30 as a month long deal. You’ll be getting once a month, starting this month with Balloon Fight. Catch the list below:
