Since our staff is responsible for covering pretty much everything related to the video game industry on a daily basis, it can be tough to post all the stories we think our readers would like to see. Videos go unwatched, new release dates are missed and silly quotes just float away without ever being heard. So, instead of ignoring the news that slipped through the cracks each week, we decided to put it all in one convenient place!
This week, we learn of the “guesting” feature for Guild Wars 2, get a look at the new color of PS3, and get another taste of what’s to come in Crysis 3.
Guesting feature coming to ‘Guild Wars 2’
It’s been teased in the past, and now it’s on its way. Guesting, the option to play on a friend’s world separate from your own home world, is coming to Guild Wars 2. It’ll be arriving in an update on January 28, and after that date you can be a Guest in a friend’s world from the Character Select screen. One stipulation the developer is quick to point out, however, is that free world transfers will no longer be available. Transferring will cost gems after that.
Classic White PS3 coming to North America January 27
The “super slim” version of Sony’s console will soon be available in a bundle for gamers in North America. The bundle will cost $299.99 and will include the console, 500GB hard drive, and a one year membership to PlayStation Plus. As you Plus subscribers know, the service comes with something called the Instant Game Collection, a set of free rotating downloadable titles. Here’s a video.

‘World of Warcraft’ PvP gear set for revamp in next patch
Even with a pedigree as strong as WoW‘s, things are never perfect. That’s why the next patch for the MMO will be overhauling PvP gear. Apparently, players that started participating in the PvP season at the outset got the best gear much faster than anyone else. This patch will gradually increase a player’s Team Rating via participation in events, as opposed to a player shooting to the top just for being the first into the swimming pool. A formula will be used to award points to players late to the game. This should help balance things out.
‘Crysis 3’ gets another ‘7 wonders’ video
Crysis 3 has been teased up to now with a series of videos in a series dubbed “The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3.” Episode 4 is a wonder indeed, featuring a weapon called the Typhoon, which can fire 500 rounds per second. If that’s not awesome, I don’t know what is.

‘Dead Island: Riptide’ UK Zombie Bait Edition one-ups every gross special edition ever
This week’s “what were they thinking” news bit comes in the form of the Dead Island: Riptide UK collector’s edition, dubbed “Zombie Bait.” The main attraction? A mutilated zombie torso, drenched in blood and missing everything except for a “classy” UK-themed bikini top. Needless to say, some people felt this was in poor taste, seeing as the only people who would reasonably display such a thing are a) serial killers and b) George Romero. Deep Silver has come out an apologized for the set.
