When Microsoft finally releases its next piece of hardware, we might be communicating through Skype as opposed to the current voice chat setup. According to CVG.com, a “person familiar with the matter” has stated that the gaming giant would be “consolidating all their communications technology around the Skype platform.”
This isn’t that big of a jump in logic, as Microsoft bought Skype back in 2011. Combine all this with a recent job listing which describes joining a team, “responsible for Skype in the living room (broadly the home), across various devices but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox,” and you have a decent amount of evidence. Of course, this is still a rumor, and hinges on CVG’s anonymous source. We’ll keep you updated.
