We’ve been waiting on a firm release date for 17-BIT’s debut game Skulls of the Shogun for a while now. While it missed the 2012 release for Windows 8, we now got our date and you won’t have to wait long.
They announced today in a press release that we’ll be getting the game on January 30 for 1200 MSP/$14.99 on Xbox Live Arcade, Windows 8, Windows Surface and $6.99 on Windows Phone. There’s so many platforms for this title and with good reason and it supports asynchronous cross-platform play. You’ll be able to play multiplayer with someone on their phone while you finish your turn either on your Xbox or your Windows tablet.
Skulls of the Shogun has you walking around the afterlife as General Akamoto, finding out what truly happened on the battlefield when you were murdered. It takes the winning formula of Advance Wars and modernizes it with great turn-based strategy. Check out a trailer below:

I’m super ecstatic to play this when it comes out, after playing it at multiple PAX’s and Gamercamp Festival 2012. You can see why I’m stoked about it in my Top 10 Indies of 2013 list. Let us know in the comments how stoked you are for it or post in our forums.
