The end of the year is supposed to typically be a happy time for gamers. Very few releases, time to play games that you missed out on, and sales are supposed to fill our hearts with excitement. Unfortunately, The War Z is giving the gaming community way too much controversy to enjoy any of the previous statements.
Numerous claims have emerged of the zombie MMO recycling content from a previous game, not delivering on promises, crazy microtransactions, and being a rather uncomplete title. In response to these accusations, most of which hold merit, Valve has released a statement that they’re removing the game from Steam.
From time to time a mistake can be made and one was made by prematurely issuing a copy of War Z for sale via Steam. We apologize for this and have temporary removed the sale offering of the title until we have time to work with the developer and have confidence in a new build. Those who purchase the game and wish to continue playing it via Steam may do so. Those who purchased the title via Steam and are unhappy with what they received may seek a refund by creating a ticket at our support site here.
With Valve stating that they won’t add the title back to Steam until they have more “confidence in a new build”, we may not see The War Z back on Steam for quite some time. It’s great to see Valve offer the opportunity for a refund on the game, and we expect to see quite a few requests for a refund.
