One redesign, two developers, several delays, and one absurd title after its first announcement, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is finally on its way out the door and just about ready for its February release date. Check out the art below.
Honestly, I have no idea what the heck is going in the Metal Gear storyline at this point, or where Raiden’s allegiance rests. All I know is this game looks super awesome and was developed by one of my favorite development houses, Platinum Games (Bayonetta). Revengeance seems to channel that same ridiculous sense of unhinged, shameless mayhem through a cutting mechanic that essentially allows Raiden to cut through anything, with a dynamic sense of how something will be cut based on the direction of the slash. It’s a different direction for the series–wildly different–but a tangent that fans of both Metal Gear and Platinum will embrace.
Here’s one I’ll most likely be picking up, considering my love for all things Platinum. Are you willing to give it a try or does this stray to far from the series to warrant your interest? Tell us in the comments, or discuss the apparently complex Metal Gear story in the forums!
