With the Wii U getting a lot of third-party multiplayer titles like Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Assassin’s Creed III, one thing’s been unspoken: how’s the online going to work? The Wii U does have a built-in microphone and speakers but it’s not for voice chat and the Wii U Pro Controller doesn’t have a jack in order to work voice chat.
So only certain games will utilize this. Mainly COD, AC III and Mass Effect 3. Nintendo told Kotaku that you’ll be able to plug in a licensed Mad Catz or Turtle Beach headset into the headphone jack of the Wii U GamePad. So if you want to play Black Ops 2 with a Pro Controller, you’ll have to use the GamePad for voice chat. Sounds entirely convoluted doesn’t it?
It’s possible it’ll have wireless headsets in the future but Nintendo hasn’t remained hushed on the matter. At launch, you’ll have to use two controllers just to chat with your friends while playing online deathmatch. Maybe Nintendo will have a future solution to this? But as of now, we have no idea.
Think you’ll be using both controllers at the same time? Let us know in the comments below or post about this weird usage on our forums.
