I think it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing another game in the Assassin’s Creed universe in 2013. Hell, I’d put money on Ubisoft launching an additional open-world, assassin-based game in 2014. People eat this series up, and the narrative is one of the biggest driving factors.
Lead writer Corey May recently spoke to Shacknews about the game hitting retailers this fall, and while May has “no idea” if another game is being worked on at the moment, the seeds for a sequel have been planted.
“Should they decide in the future to do other stuff, there’s plenty of room to explore, plenty of seeds that have been planted that won’t conflict,” May said.
That doesn’t mean we’ll be left with a frustrating cliffhanger and no real closure, though. Assassin’s Creed III will tie up the loose ends it presents without completely closing the book.
“It was my intent to provide pay-off and to answer questions for those who are invested in them,” May said. “It should provide a fairly lengthy ending that will also give room for answers and pay-off.”
If you’re a fan of the series and clear on the Desmond story, you should “understand where the end of the game comes from.” There will be both the answers and resolutions you want.
