You might not have heard of They Bleed Pixels but you’d be silly to ignore this wonderful upcoming side-scrolling beat-em up’. Developed by Spooky Squid Games, the plot involves a girl who’s haunted by nightmares from other worlds. The game has a unique take on fighting where you only use one button to make a myriad of moves. That won’t save you when it comes to the sheer hardcore platforming challenge some of these levels produce. But the more enemies you defeat, the better chance you have at redeeming yourself with a checkpoint since that’s the only way you’ll unlock them.
It was supposed to be coming to Xbox Live Indie Games last year but Spooky Squid took a year to make more polish, add more levels and bring the experience over to the PC through Steam. That way, they’ll have a bigger audience as there’s not a tremendous audience over on XBLIG. Creative Director Miguel Sternberg had this to say on the move:
“We’re extremely happy to be bringing They Bleed Pixels to Steam. Throughout development other game developers and players have told us that the game really deserves to reach a larger audience and the move to PC and Steam will do just that.”
They’ll announce a release date very soon and they had a pretty great closed beta for some of the Toronto Indie Dev community. What do you think? Do you enjoy the tough platformers and think to pick this up on Steam? Let us know in the comments or the forums.
