Quite a bit of speculation has risen the past few days regarding the status of NBA Live 13. After the a financial call for EA yesterday, it was quickly noticed that NBA Live 13 was absent from their list of fall and winter releases.
Speaking with Owen Good at Kotaku, EA SPORTS has confirmed that NBA Live 13 has not been cancelled. Below, we’ve pulled a segment from the article referencing the status of the game and when media would be able to get their hands on the title.
“The development team at our Tiburon studio is working hard to get the game to beta,” the statement added, “and we’ll have a hands-on experience later this summer.”
It’s been a rough journey for the NBA Live series the past few years. After NBA Elite 11 was cancelled, many gamers took the immediate thought that NBA Live 13 would be a title benefiting from roughly three years of development time.
However, that’s not the case. NBA Live 13 has only seen a slightly longer development cycle than what most sports games would typically see. The team behind NBA Live 13 essentially had to break down the Elite 11 experience, and salvage what they could to begin working on the next iteration of NBA Live.
