Not all online experiences can build a community that rivals that of Halo or Call of Duty. Some multiplayer modes just never find an audience, which forces companies like Sony to make the difficult decision of cutting off support entirely.
It costs money to keep online functionality going, and a handful of Sony titles will be losing that financial backing in the near future. MotorStorm Pacific Rift, MotorStorm Arctic Edge and SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 will all go offline as of October 1. The PSP game The Eye of Judgement Legends will end a bit earlier on August 31.
All of the single player content will still be available to players, so if playing against friends has never really been a draw, don’t hesitate to pick these titles up if you had a previous interest.
Do you play any of these games online? Should Sony continue to pay for support, even if it’s for a small community? Let us know what you think in the comments below, or head on over to the forums!
