We went from the original, hulking version of the PlayStation 3 to the now thinner model, but that may not be the end of the console’s growing pains.
According to a report by Japanese site Pocket News, paperwork has been filed by Sony with the FCC for a new PS3 with the model code CECH-4001X. The current model code is in the 3000 series, and while new placement of the FCC info label on the console itself is really the only current difference the pictures show, a new model would most likely bring along other aesthetic and technological changes. With how far along Sony is in this generation of consoles, it may just be a move to release a cheaper-to-produce PS3.
Do you think this will actually be a new version of the PlayStation 3? Is the movement of the label going to be the only change? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
