It’s hard to believe that the Xbox 360, in this day and age, still doesn’t have an integrated internet browser. Remember the SEGA Dreamcast? Yup, even that system had a working internet browser.
It appears that Microsoft has been hearing the criticism from fans, however. A rumor that has circulated via The Verge is stating that Microsoft is working on a Kinect-enabled internet browser for the Xbox 360. The browser is said to include Bing voice search, however, it will be limited to media results.
Being able to browse the entire internet from your Xbox 360 is an intriguing option. If there’s no extra fee along with great voice and Kinect integration, then the browser stands the chance to be a great hit. Browsers on systems are typically wanted, but rarely used once they’re integrated. Microsoft stated that they want to heavily focus on “services” at E3 2012, and we fully expect to hear more about the browser at the show.
