Batman: Arkham City to Receive GOTY Treatment

In what’s becoming an ever popular trend, Warner Bros. has announced this morning that Batman: Arkham City will be receiving the “Game of the Year” treatment.  Fans will be able to pick up the new edition in North America, Europe, and Australia.

In the game of the year edition, fans of the Dark Knight will receive the Harley Quinn’s Revenge downloadable content as well as all DLC previously released for the game.  Not enough? You’ll also receive a free digital copy of Batman: Year One movie.

The Harley Quinn’s Revenge mission sends players back into Arkham City to face their final challenge as they interchange between playing as both Batman and Robin.  Gamers must utilize each of the characters’ unique combat and investigative skills to uncover Harley’s vengeful plan and shut the gates on the urban mega-prison forever.  In addition to experiencing a new storyline, fans can explore new environments and face-off against Harley’s all new gang of thugs.

The DLC included on disc includes the Catwoman PackNightwing Bundle Pack,Robin Bundle Pack, Challenge Map Pack and Arkham City Skins Pack.  All told, Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition packages new gameplay content, seven maps, three playable characters, and 12 skins beyond the original retail release.

The game will be available in North America on May 29th, but in Europe and Australia on September 7th.  Below, we’ve listed the maps, skins, and playable characters you’ll have at your access with the Game of the Year edition:

Maps:  Wayne Manor, Main Hall, Freight Train, Black Mask, The Joker’s Carnival, Iceberg Long, and Batcave.

Playable Characters:  Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing

Skins:  1970s Batsuit, Year One Batman, The Dark Knight Returns, Earth One Batman, Batman Beyond Batman, Animated Batman, Sinestro Corps Batman, Long Halloween Catwoman, Animated Catwoman, Animated Robin, Red Robin and Animated Nightwing

No price has been listed for the Arkham City: Game of the Year Edition, but we’d assume that it would fall in the $39-49 range.  There’s a good bit of content here, and it’s definitely worth picking up for fans who haven’t yet had the chance to play the title.
