The launch of a new system, whether it’s a console or handheld, is always exciting. Sony has officially launched the Playstation Vita worldwide as the system finally landed in North America less than half an hour ago.
The system launches officially in North America today with the option to purchase either a 3G/Wi-Fi system or one that only enables Wi-Fi. The Playstation Vita launches with an incredibly deep launch lineup, rich features, and some of the biggest shooters on the market like Call of Duty coming to the handheld. Sony has done their homework with the Playstation Vita, and it’s ready to let the consumers reap the benefits.
One of the systems more underrated features has to be the cross-platform play. Sony has mentioned that quite a few titles will be available to purchase in the Playstation Store and be able to be played on both the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita. The best part about it? You only have to pay for these titles once. This allows you to be on the Playstation Vita and play someone on the PS3, or vice versa.
There’s a lot of promise to Sony’s handheld, and developers seem to be giving the device a good chance to stay in the market. Sony has plans to bring just about all of their popular first-party titles to the system in one way or another, especially their shooters. While the dual-analog sticks will be great for the shooter market, it’ll open up the door to even more complex titles such as deep RPGs to eventually be more popular on the handheld.
