It’s been a rough road so far for XCOM. With the title originally being slated for release last year, it was pushed to March 2012. Everything seemed to be on pace for the title except for the fact that there were no previews, media, or really any information at all being mentioned for the game.
After the recent announcement of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, speculation began to occur that the game had been all but put to pasture. 2K was rather quick to state the game was still in development and would still be releasing, however, it’s been officially delayed. The latest issue of Game Informer has revealed what most thought would be happening: the game is now slated for release in 2013.
At this point, we’re glad to see XCOM receive the extra development time. It’s an intriguing game and anxious to see what 2K Marin can do with it. Given the fact that BioShock: Infinite is slated for release this year as well, XCOM releasing in 2o13 will help it secure a little spotlight of its own.
