Former head of Team Bondi and creator of the critically acclaimed game LA Noire Brendan McNamara is working on a brand new title after the ugly break up of his former studio. According to film director and owner of KMM Interactive George Miller, McNamara’s new project is set to be called “Whore of the Orient.”
It was reported this morning in the Australian Financial Review that Miller, director of the first two Mad Max movies, had acquired rights to McNamara’s game and that Whore of the Orient will be developed by KMM on a multi-platform level. KMM was the destination of several Team Bondi employees after the Australian studio’s collapse, so McNamara seems to be working on somewhat familiar turf.
McNamara himself, however, has yet to reveal much about the game, other than saying that it was based on “one of the great untold stories of the 20th Century,” and would encompass a similar size and scope to L.A. Noire.
Are you looking forward to McNamara’s new game? Do you think the concepts pioneered by L.A. Noire will translate well to other video games? Would you buy a game created by McNamara after the recent Team Bondi controversy? Feel free to leave a comment below or join our great forum community.
