Normally, maintenance on the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live is conducted in the wee hours of the morning where online traffic is at a minimum. That won’t be the case this Thursday, November 17, however, as a post on the PlayStation Blog has revealed scheduled maintenance from 8am-10pm PST.
The author of the post, Corporate Communications Director Patrick Seybold, called it “routine maintenance,” and stated that the following services will be unavailable:
- PlayStation Store on PS3 and PSP.
- PlayStation Network Account Management.
- PlayStation Network Account Registration.
Seybold also says that some lucky users may be able to access online multiplayer by chance, and that in-game trophies can still be earned and will be added to your profile once PSN comes back online.
It’s unfortunate that gamers are practically missing a whole day, especially with all of the stellar releases currently available, but it wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to PSN users this year.
Feel free to let us know what you think about the Thursday’s maintenance on the PSN in the comments or the forums!
