While millions of gamers are currently playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, it’s important to remember the millions more who have served our country in the military and those who are serving today.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Activision announced today that it would donate $3 million to the Call of Duty Endowment. The non-profit organization was founded by Activision CEO Bobby Kotick in 2009 and assists military veterans with job training and placement.
According to the announcement on the Endowment’s website, the organization has “provided more than $1.5 million in grants and scholarships to many organizations and colleges throughout the United States,” and that the funds have, “contributed to more than 700 veteran jobs, more than 2,500 veterans receiving job training, and more than 30 receiving scholarships.”
The donation comes on the heels of today’s news that Modern Warfare 3 sold over 6.5 million units, making over $400 million on launch day alone, so no doubt it was well warranted.
