Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has launched to millions over the last 24 hours without a hitch, but it appears that its web-based component, Call of Duty Elite is struggling under the weight of so many new users.
In what was first noticed last night and confirmed in a tweet from Call of Duty’s official Twitter account this morning, many users are unable to either register or log in to the site, and those that are successful in doing so are often being met with blank stat screens.
“We’re having ELITE reg/login issues.” according to the tweet. “Teams are working to increase capacity. Thanks for your patience.”
On the Call of Duty Elite website, an update from the head of Beachhead Studios, Chacko Sonny echoed the same sentiment. “Registration requests for our new live service Call of Duty Elite are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations, which is creating a bottleneck and some players have not been able to register,” he says. “We have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible.”
