The Canadian video game developer Bioware has cultivated a stable of triple-A franchises over the years, including Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Dragon Age. Now, thanks to a screenshot that first appeared on Gameinformer’s website this morning, we’re getting our first look at their new project that will be officially unveiled at the Video Game Awards next month.
We don’t know the name of the project, and a release date has yet to be announced. However, as you can see in the expanded image below, the screenshot shows off what appears to be either an explosion or a fiery collision sending a storm of shrapnel, car parts, and driver flying in all directions. The similarities to Rage, Borderlands, and other post-apocalyptic combat productions are uncanny and it will be interesting to see how Bioware distinguishes the game from the rest of pack. Will it be a shooter? A racer? An RPG? Perhaps a little bit of everything? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments or the forums!
The Video Game Awards will air Saturday, December 10 on Spike TV at 8:00 P.M. EST.
