DICE has recently confirmed that the DLC expansion, Back to Karkand will be made available in December (perhaps the all the servers will be in order by then), and yesterday the developer released a set of screens that show glimpses of what’s in store for us.
Back to Karkand will add four classic maps to Battlfield 3’s roster: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Peninsula – all of which have been redesigned for the Frostbite 2.0 engine. There will also be a set of 10 throwback Battlefield 2 weapons and 3 BF2 vehicles (DPV, BTR-90, F-35B STOVL jet fighter) added to the mix.
Back in early October, DICE’s Lars Gustavson commented that Battlefiled 3 had a “massive” DLC plan in the works, so it’s likely that Back to Karkand will only mark the tip of the iceberg for new expansions of the game.
The Back to Karkand expansion is expected to be priced at $15 when it’s released. However, those who pre-ordered the game will be able to download it at no extra cost. Check out the screenshots below and be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below or in our new forums!
