Activision has released a new behind the scenes trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer. The video shows off new streak and class systems, and how Modern Warfare 3 will attempt to differentiate itself from previous games in the series.
To promote players who like to achieve more team-based objectives, kill streaks have been changed into point streaks, with every action from assists to capturing a flag contributing to the streak.
There are also new Strike Packages instead of the traditional classes that are designed to take advantages of different play styles. The Assault strike package is designed to maximize kills and give players access the most lethal weaponry. The support package promotes just that: support, and it allows for point streaks to carry on past deaths – a rollover plan, if you will. The final package is the Specialist package, which starts players off with three perks and gives them one more for every two kills. Reach eight kills and you’re juiced up with every perk in the game.
While the Support Class definitely sounds like the class for those who want to contribute in a non-kill orientated manner, the other two sound like they will encourage the same type of play familiar to COD veterans. It will be interesting to see how the three come together when the game releases on November 8 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and PC. Sound off on all your Call of Duty opinions in the comments or the new forums.
