Harmonix has been teasing us for weeks with "leaked" lists of songs and gameplay trailers, but all gamers have been waiting for some official confirmation. Coming into E3, only a handful of tracks had been confirmed.
We’d say the picture’s a bit clearer now.

While any new content would have us here at StickSkills excited, we can’t help start counting the days until Rock Band 2 launches. The set list is the most diverse in terms of genres of rock and mixing contemporary music like Panic! at the Disco with classic rock like Bob Dylan.
But that’s not all. Along with the 84 songs included on disc, Harmonix has confirmed that all Rock Band 1 DLC will be compatible with Rock Band 2, and that most songs from Rock Band 1 can be played through the Rock Band 2 disc, provided you have a hard copy of Rock Band 1. A small nominal fee will be required, but Harmonix has said that will be $5 or less.
The biggest news, however, is the DLC. While no songs have been confirmed, the good people at Harmonix has said that 20 songs will be available on launch. For free. Yes, free. $0.
While many were crowning Guitar Hero: World Tour the new king of music games, Rock Band 2 is making sure they stay on the throne.
