Red Dead
Of all the entries on this list, Red Dead may be the odd man out – unlike the others, Red Dead isn’t an omnipresent, annual or semi-annual franchise with a hefty number of entries under its belt. No, the Red Dead franchise has a mere two entries to its name – 2004’s little remembered Red Dead Revolver and 2010’s phenomenal, sprawling Red Dead Redemption. Each game, much like Rockstar’s other franchises, is a largely standalone affair, but Redemption was such a success on almost every level – a deeply engaging and emotional story, solid gameplay and an engrossing, engaging open world – that it would be a shame not to see more. With the increased power of next-gen consoles, Rockstar could take what it accomplished in Redemption and crank it up to 11. And, like Bully before it, this is one franchise we’re surprised Rockstar hasn’t devoted the same kind of attention Grand Theft Auto sees.
