7. The Saboteur
There are a lot of great ideas in The Saboteur. Some of them are lifted from other games and effectively repurposed, such as a traversal system inspired by Assassin’s Creed that has a bit more of a haggard feel to it. Other ideas are more original; the incredible number of ambient sabotage targets and Nazi encampments to be blown sky-high give the game significant legs, and the idea that the black-and-white world slowly bleeds back to color as Paris is liberated is a brilliant flourish. The Saboteur was a mark of several different ideas cohering extremely well, as well as adding a great artistic touch in having Nazi-occupied areas of the world painted in a drab Sin City black and white, while liberated areas explode with color. This is one of the more unique and creative entries of the bunch.
