‘Aliens: Colonial Marines’ on store shelves a week early

original (2)

Excited to finally get your hands on Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines? Well, if you’re lucky, you may be able to find it in stores right now.

Our trusty Canadian reporter, Perry “Please Don’t Touch the Beard” Jackson, spotted the below copy of this soon-to-be-released shooter at his local Walmart. It’s in Canada, so we’re unsure how many other locations have broken the street date. It’s also important to note that this is just a bundle of special editions.

If you can’t find it in your area now, look to pick up Aliens: Colonial Marines on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC Feb. 12.

Have you seen this game at a store near you? If you do find it, will you buy a copy early? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below!

When not writing about all the latest and greatest happenings in the video game industry, you can find Josiah on PSN, XBLA or Steam (Lionheart377). He has a soft spot for classic, turn-based RPGs, but also spends a great deal of time jumping from platform to platform and shooting dudes in the head.

Retailers always get the games a week or so earlier than the release date. At least a few days, usually before the weekend. I know, because I work at Microplay. In Canada. I’ve been playing Colonial Marines since last night after work, when we got the shipment.
But it’s very illegal to put the game on the shelf for retail distribution before the actual release date – the store or company can get heavily sued by the publisher.

Sadly, it’s very disappointing. Looks like shit on the PS3. Fun to play but feels very unfinished and unpolished. Alas, not the be-all-end-all Aliens game I was expecting.
