Although it’s pretty much a given that a sequel would be on the way given the huge success of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, it is a nice surprise to hear that the next issue of leading video game magazine Game Informer will be featuring the next game on the cover.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (though we’re not sure if the subtitle is official or an editorial decision) is, according to the cover of the magazine, a next-gen game. A NeoGAF user who has been reading the issue has supplied some information on the game:
-World might be 20% bigger than Skyrim
-It takes up to 40 minutes on horseback to cross the entire world
-CDRED Engine 3 delivers better streaming technology
-Geralt has his memory
-No chapter/act division (this may point to a constantly flowing game a la Skyrim)
-Diverse quests
The user also says that Geralt is “DONE fighting for everyone else”–this could point to a more personal plot, perhaps one involving revenge. There’s really not a lot else concerning the game at the moment, but expect there to be more information in the coming days and weeks. You can check out the cover below.
If you never played The Witcher 2, it is more than worth tracking down and playing, as it is a fantastic RPG that incorporates a ludicrous amount of content and mechanics into one cleanly executed game. If you’re a fan, what are you most excited for in that list? What else do you want to see? Tell us in the comments, or discuss the game in our forums!
